Grosse Pointe Farms and Harbor Springs, Michigan resident Frank Couzens III, 57, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends.

Frank, whose career began in advertising, was Senior Vice President of Marketing for Jackson Dawson Communications.  He was respected and appreciated by team members throughout Jackson Dawson and Ford Motor Company alike, for his unwavering loyalty, intuitive finesse and dedication. He was regarded as a passionate leader by anyone who ever worked with him. The concept of working “shoulder to shoulder” was a philosophy he affirmed and embraced.

In 1981, following in the footsteps of his father Frank Couzens Jr., grandfather Frank Couzens and great-grandfather James Couzens, Frank became a member of the Detroit Athletic Club.  He appreciated and enjoyed Detroit’s diamonds in the rough, and loved going to Tiger games via the DAC Pavilion, the Auto Show and sailing the Bayview Mackinac Race for 25 years. Evenings spent watching his daughters row on the Detroit River, from the Detroit Boat Club on Belle Isle, were cherished moments.

Frank was an avid skier, and one of his favorite places in the world was Nubs Nob in northern Michigan.  The lifelong friendships he forged there fostered some of his most treasured moments and memories; Frank loved the Nubs community as family.  Frank enjoyed the water; sailing, boating, and just enjoying the view, especially on Lake St. Clair and Little Traverse Bay.

Frank was a Board Member for The Children’s Center of Detroit.  He was a member of Bayview Yacht Club, the Detroit Athletic Club, and The Hundred Club of Detroit.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Robin Couzens, daughters Alison Couzens and Whitney Couzens; father Frank Couzens Jr. (Linda), sisters Joan Cliff (Tom), Margaret Crandall (Michael, deceased), Carol Marantette (Larry), brothers Bill Couzens (Marion) and John Couzens (Melinda).  He was predeceased by his mother Joan Couzens, and sister Anne Couzens.

A mass and celebration of Frank’s life will be held Tuesday, September 25th at Noon at St. Paul Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236, (313) 885-8855.
