Drivers in Virginia could soon have to put down their cell phones while they’re on the road.

FAIRFAX, Va. – In Virginia, there is no shortage of cars on the road, and no shortage of people with cell phones. But when you put the two together, it can be a dangerous combination.

Earlier this month, the National Safety Council sent letters to governors and state legislators asking them to do statewide bans on drivers using cell phones. Now, it looks like someone in Virginia has decided to turn that suggestion into a law.

Virginia Senator Patricia Ticer has proposed a bill banning the use of handheld cell phones while driving in the Commonwealth.

“I think it’s good,” said William Bowman. “Virginia is a state where it’s very busy here and I’m guilty of that myself so it is good.”

But if you think that is a good idea please see what Dr. Devra Davis from the University of Pittsburgh’s Cancer Institute says here- an amazing link
