Devra Davis heads up the world’s first Center on Environmental Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. National and international groups have honored her innovative research and public policy efforts. Her book When Smoke Ran Like Water, a National Book Award finalist, “should be on the shelf of anyone who cares about the environment and wants to learn more about policy, health, and politics,” says Publishers Weekly. Her newest book, The Secret History of the War on Cancer, tells the story of a major public health effort diverted and distorted for private gain.
