Healthy Virginia

The Governor approved amendments to 2 VAC 20-40, regulations relating to the Licensing of Pesticide Businesses. These regulations were published in the September 4, 2006 edition of the Virginia Register for an effective date of October 5, 2006.

How does this help Virginians?

The most significant change in the regulations will be the obligation of pesticide businesses to maintain application records for all pesticides, which includes both General Use and Restricted Use Products. The Office of Pesticide Services (OPS) plans to inform and educate affected clients commencing January 1, 2007. However, if OPS encounters the need to review application records, we will reserve the right to do so under the new regulation effective October 5. Please note that the new record keeping requirement is limited to Commercial Applications only. Private Applicators are not required to maintain such records under this amended regulation.
