Hello, I’m David Toutant and I will be returning to do the 300 mile Less Cancer ride from Port Huron to Mackinac again this year. I’ve been a cyclist almost my entire life competing in BMX, Road and Mountain bike racing. I’ve also made a return to running over the past few years and have now added marathoning to list of things I do to keep in shape. My wife also stays active by running marathons and teaching Zumba Fitness and we continually stress the importance of staying active on our three children who all dance, run or cycle to stay fit. Activity is important and people must understand that going walking or for a casual bike ride even just a few times per week can reduce your risk. For me, in just this last year, my Mother in Law has been diagnosed and treated for Colon Cancer, a running friend was treated for a skin cancer, and another friend’s wife for Breast Cancer. After doing the ride last year, to support my friend Suzi, I realized that not only was it a great challenge to ride almost 300 miles in 2 days, but it was also inspirational to see that people were tracking us online and actually took the time to come find us on the road and show their appreciation for what we were doing. I really believe that the goal of prevention is a goal everyone can understand, because we all have been touched by some form of this disease and I can’t wait to help Suzi and the rest of the riders complete this ride again this year.
