The first annual Less Cancer Challenge 300 is a program of LessCancer.org that encourages individuals to get out and move during the month of July.  For example, a commitment to walk 300 minutes during the month of July is equal 10 minutes a day.

On Saturday, July 20, as sailboats leave Port Huron, three cyclists will ride 300 miles north to Mackinac Island in an effort to meet the Less Cancer Challenge 300. They include Suzi Tobias, Miles O’Brien and David Toutant.

“We are thrilled to have Suzi Tobias and team participate with Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race as part of the ‘Less Cancer Challenge 300,’” said Bill Couzens, founder and president of Less Cancer.  “Our effort raises awareness about cancer prevention with the ultimate vision, of course, to reduce incidence of cancer.  We encourage members of the community to recruit their friends to get moving and join us throughout the month of July and take part in the Challenge 300 by participating in recreational activities.”

LessCancer.org is a campaign of Next Generation Choices Foundation that has developed programing for education, advocacy and policy for cancer awareness.

“Bayview Yacht Club is proud to partner with Less Cancer to incorporate the ‘Less Cancer Challenge 300’ into the 2013 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race,” said 2013 Bayview Yacht Club Commodore Kent M. Colpaert.  “This event is just another example of how Bayview Yacht Club and the Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race have engaged the community to become active and get involved to make a difference in the lives of others.”
