OUR MISSION
More than 45 years after the “war on cancer” began, we have spent billions on research and treatment while falling behind on preventing many cancers. Despite the progress made on research and treatment since 1974, there have been sharp increases in some cancers: pediatric blood cancers are up by 60 percent and brain cancers have increased by 40 percent in children 14 and under. Although a small percentage of cancers are driven by genetics, the rest are often the result of external forces. Less Cancer’s mission is to make risk reduction and prevention a vital part of the cancer paradigm. Less Cancer was founded to help remediate the alarming trend of increased incidences of cancer. We are a Platinum GuideStar member and a Top Rated Nonprofit. We share our message with the general public, elected officials, and the medical community through the digital media and community-supported programming.

DARK WATERS
Less Cancer Founder Bill Couzens with public health hero Rob Bilott, whose real life-story and his book, Exposure, inspired the film Dark Waters.
Rob Billot, author of Exposure: Poisoned Water, Corporate Greed, and One Lawyer’s Twenty-Year Battle against DuPont, answers questions from viewers at home.
Dark Waters is a shocking true movie about a community exposed to cancer-causing chemical pollution by its biggest employer. The highly acclaimed 2019 legal thriller stars stars Mark Ruffalo, Ann Hathaway and Tim Robbins. Three-time Oscar nominee Ruffalo plays Bilott, the tenacious lawyer who investigated and revealed DuPont’s blatant disposal of toxic waste into the water supply of Parkersburg, WV. Despite successful class action suits filed on behalf of residents whose cancers and other serious illnesses were linked to the PFOAs in their water, Bilott’s fight continues.
Rob Bilott is a Board Member of the Next Generation Choices Foundation (LessCancer.org).
