The Less Cancer campaign- program of Next Generation Choices Foundation is pleased to announce the first Move Detroit for Less Cancer to be held December 1,2012 at the Bayview Yacht Club,located at 100 Clairpointe Street Detroit, MI 48215.
For nearly a decade, Less Cancer has been at the helm introducing prevention into the cancer conversation and educating individuals, families and communities about healthy choices and cancer risks. The organization is the founder of National Cancer Prevention Day. The resolution for National Cancer Prevention Day was sponsored by Representative Steve Israel, Co-Chair of the House Cancer Caucus and co-sponsored by 25 members of Congress. Locally in Michigan, Cancer Prevention Day was sponsored by Senator Bert Johnson.
Less Cancer has recently partnered with Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation to support the national Shape Down program, helping fund programs that will aid children and families adopt healthy lifestyles.
As partners, Less Cancer will reach people to educate, advocate and participate through
relatable tools to include our website, social media networks and offline media to guide people to effective outcomes. Less Cancer engages these models in the social networks to Less Cancer followers of about 100,000 and to an expanded audience to individuals in over 30 countries- making this very local effort “global”. This effort positions Detroit as a leader for impacting and modeling prevention.
Less Cancer’s interest is specific in reducing risk for cancer-obesity is a well documented cancer risk .
The event includes a silent auction, dancing to music by Kirk Lowry and the Strange Brew Band NC,as well as a cash bar.
This partnership between Less Cancer and Children’s Hospital Foundation , a ‘perfect storm’ to face off against increasing cancer risks, is a phenomenal opportunity for Less Cancer to join forces with local efforts to reach healthy goals.
You or your company can become involved at any level. The Detroit Moves for Less Cancer event asks for a minimum donation of 25.00 at the door, and $100.00 for Angel Sponsorship.

We are looking for generous patrons to donate more items for our silent auction.
